PSA: Rabies in ATL
Tl;dr 5 rabies cases have occurred close to home recently; to help protect our community from rabies, we’re offering $25 exam fees (plus the cost of vaccines) for any outdoor cats to get updated on their rabies vaccines.
Since the beginning of the year, there have been 5 cases of rabies reported in the northwest quadrant of Georgia. It’s no cause for alarm, but it’s important to be aware, and to make sure that you your pets are well protected.
Who was infected?
a raccoon in DeKalb County on Jan 13
a stray cat in White County (downtown Helen) on Feb 26
a cat in Athens-Clarke/Oconee County on March 8th
a raccoon that attacked a dog in Gwinnett on March 20th
What you can do about it:
Avoid interacting with stray cats or raccoons (we know, they are absolutely the cutest), especially if you don’t know their vaccine status.
If you have animals that go outside (or, like us, you’ve become primary caregiver of the neighborhood cat(s)), make sure they are up to date on their Rabies vaccines! We’re running a promo from now until the end of April 2026:
$25 exam fee ($60 off!)
for any outdoor cats
(with purchase of vaccine - check out our vaccine prices here)
